Course "Intercultural Communication" (Educational Level: Master's)

Course Objective:

The course aims to analyze and summarize theoretical principles regarding the characteristics of intercultural communication in the process of developing students' intercultural competence and cultural intelligence, as well as to provide practical skills for interacting with representatives of different cultures and countries.

Interdisciplinary Connections:
The course "Intercultural Communication" integrates a wide range of fundamental concepts from general theoretical and specialized disciplines, such as "Global Economy," "Managerial Economics," "International Management," "Managing International Competitiveness," "Research Methodology," and others.

Course Objectives:

− Analyze the main concepts of the subject and key approaches to intercultural communication;

− Identify changes in the nature of intercultural communication development under the influence of globalization processes;

− Develop effective communication skills for students when interacting with representatives of different cultures and professional groups;

− Foster a sense of national dignity among students in a multicultural environment.

List of Competencies Acquired by Students Upon Completion of the Course

Upon completing the course, master's students will be able to:

  • Analyze the characteristics of different corporate cultures in professional contexts and integrate into international teams by applying linguistic and communicative behavior strategies with a high degree of intercultural appropriateness;
  • Demonstrate awareness of the fundamental principles, contemporary theories, concepts, technologies, and methods in the field of intercultural communication;
  • Research and analyze national corporate cultures in a foreign language using the systematic approach proposed in the works of H. Triandis, G. Hofstede, and E. Hall;
  • Effectively integrate into international teams by applying linguistic and communicative behavior strategies with a high degree of intercultural appropriateness;
  • Demonstrate research skills and the ability to identify scientific and practical problems, prepare academic texts on intercultural communication, and publicly present research findings in a foreign language.

The subject of the discipline includes the fundamental principles of contemporary theories, concepts, technologies, and methods in the field of intercultural communication, essential for establishing and maintaining effective cultural dialogue in the language of international business.
